New Year, New EVs
As we enter the new year, the EV market continues to expand with a fresh new line up of electric vehicles on the horizon. These new models include electric pick-up trucks, SUVs, crossovers and more! While we can’t cover all the new options out there for climate-minded car shoppers, we will be giving you the rundown on some of the new EVs we are most excited about here at Drive Clean.
$40,000, 250 mile range, Summer 2022
First up is the Toyota bZ4X, Toyota’s first entry into the all-electric vehicle market. Expected to be available for purchase mid-year, this SUV has an all wheel drive (AWD) add-on and an expected electric range of 250 miles. While it doesn’t have the longest range on the market, the price makes it an accessible and reliable option for consumers. In true Toyota fashion, it’s estimated that the bZ4X will hit the market with a $40,000 price point–making it one of the more affordable EV options available to consumers.
$40,000, 220 mile range, Summer 2022
Die hard Subaru fans and adventure-seekers will be thrilled to hear about Subaru’s affordable EV the Solterra. This SUV features AWD, 8.3 inches of ground clearance, and an expected electric range of 220 miles. Available for purchase later this year, the Solterra is estimated to have a starting MSRP of $37,000. The Solterra’s great price coupled with Subaru’s award-winning engineering makes this EV one to watch.
$37,499, 250 mile range, Winter 2022
The Fisker Ocean is an exciting addition to the EV market with an innovative, future-forward design. Another AWD SUV, the Ocean differs from its counterparts in one big way. The SUV is fitted with a solar panel on top, Fisker’s revolutionary SolarSky roof. Fisker estimates that their SolarSky roof will generate an extra 1,500-2,000 miles of charge per year, helping to boost the model’s 250 mile electric range. Coupled with an expected price point of $37,499, the Fisker Ocean is a certified money saver. The interior is made of eco-friendly materials, including recycled plastic bottles, rubber waste, old t-shirts, and fishing nets. This sustainably-minded EV is an exciting look at the EV innovation to come.
Genesis Electrified G80
$50,000, 310 mile range, Spring 2022
Genesis is making its first foray into the EV market with the Electrified G80, a luxury sedan with fast charging technology. The G80 features an estimated electric range of 310 miles and is expected to be released early this year with a $50,000 price point. When using a fast charger, this sedan can achieve 80% charge in 22 minutes. It’s also outfitted with an advanced driving assistance system that can help drivers avoid collisions and accidents. The Electrified G80 is a great option for those looking for a sleek luxury EV–and it’s reasonably priced too.
Ford F-150 Lightning
$39,974, 230 mile range, Spring 2022
America’s best-selling pick-up for over 40 years is going all-electric and we couldn’t be more thrilled. The standard model starts at $39,974 with a 230 mile electric range, great for people looking for a durable, affordable all-electric pick-up. For those willing to shell out a little more money, Ford has provided optional add-ons that include an extended electric range (up to 300 miles), higher towing capacity, luxury sound system, moonroof, and more. In keeping with their motto “Built Ford Tough,” the F-150 Lightning has undergone all the same testing as its predecessors–ensuring it’s as powerful and durable as its gas counterparts.
